Numerical Analysis of Flow Phenomena in Discharge Object with Siphon Using Lattice Boltzmann Method and CFD

This article presents numerical simulation of flow in the discharge object with welded siphon and free water level. The main tool used this study is lattice Boltzmann method combined Volume-of-Fluid approach Smagorinski LES model. Some aspects are discussed, especially formulation outlet boundary condition. simulations carried out in-house software based on open-source Palabos framework. Presented results compared CFD simulations, ANSYS CFX applying SST SAS turbulence models free-surface modeling by means method. evolution interactions structures analyzed using visualizations spectral analysis. All verified experimental data obtained hydraulic laboratory circuit. A stationary regime has been visualized PIV. Both vertical planes horizontal have examined, focused mainly regions below behind outlet. show a good agreement calculated measured complex structures, including time-averaged instantaneous fields.
